Where I would amplify this slightly, by extending the metaphor is that the man should give a very detailed job description. The pay aspects are what the woman has scoped out since the man started walking across the room to say hello. She looked at his clothes, his shoes, his wrist watch, and usually his mere presence in an expensive location was the premier indicator. Then she was asking where he worked, what was his job description, what car did he drive, where did he live, and what was his degree (if any). All of these were to nail down the “pay” she could expect from the transaction. The man should make very clear what his expectation are and what her obligations would be if she takes the job. This is only fair. Where this metaphor breaks down is that nothing is enforceable against the woman under marriage 2.0 laws. My first wife and I had detailed discussions prior to marriage. I wanted a big family. We agreed to wait two years then start having babies. At the two year point I said, OK lets go. She then told me that she had decided that she did not want children. Being the member of a totally co-equal partnership means that you have no power to enforce the clauses of your partnership agreement.
